Voter Accessibility Advisory Committee
About
The Voter Accessibility Advisory Committee (VAAC) is an advisory committee to the County Elections office.
VAAC member serve at the discretion of the County Registrar. The mission of the VAAC is to advise, assist, and provide recommendations as to how voters with disabilities can vote independently and privately. The VAAC provides recommendations on identifying and prioritizing activities, programs, and policies to ensure every voter has equal access to the ballot.
Duties
- Assist and advise county election officials on existing programs to reach people with disabilities, and also provide advice on whether to create new programs
- Advise county elections officials on where to set up voting equipment and how to recognize barriers to participation for senior voter and voters with disabilities
- Evaluate Vote Centers and assist county elections officials to enhance website accessibility
VAAC members are expected to attend quarterly meetings at the County Election Office. This is a volunteer committee. There is no stipend or reimbursement for participating in the VAAC.
