Vote Center Worker Application

    

El Dorado County Voter Registration & Elections department is seeking individuals to assist in working at a Vote Center and picking up Vote by Mail ballots at various locations throughout the County.

Already an Election Officer?

To work the election and become an Election Officer you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be at least 18 years of age OR be a high school student that is at least 16 years of age and in good academic standing

  • A resident of the State of California

  • Be able to read and write in fluent English

  • Attend mandatory training classes prior to each election

  • Have access to transportation

Are you bilingual?

The County of El Dorado is actively recruiting bilingual Vote Center workers to serve their communities. We need your help if you are fluent in English and any of the following languages:

  • Spanish

  • Chinese

Positions:

Inspectors: Receive a stipend and be available to start working at a Vote Center starting 10 days before Election Day. Inspectors are the leaders/supervisors of the Vote Center and assigned Clerks. They are responsible for knowing how to operate the Vote Center equipment, communicate regularly with the Elections office, and ensure all procedures are being followed. 

  • Receive and check election supplies

  • Prepare, open, maintain and close the Vote Center each day

  • Enforce and follow state and federal laws by performing tasks as instructed

  • Ensure equipment is set-up and operated properly

  • Assign tasks and breaks

  • Issue and receive official ballots from the voters

  • Return ballots and supplies to assigned drop-off site nightly

  • Attend mandatory training classes at the El Dorado County Voter Registration & Elections office

Clerks:  Receive a stipend and can have more of a flexible schedule, including only being able to work on Election Day. A clerk works under the direction of the Inspector. 

  • Prepare, open, maintain and close the Vote Center each day

  • Enforce and follow state and federal laws by performing tasks as instructed 

  • Issue and receive official ballots from the voters

  • Attend mandatory training classes at the El Dorado County Voter Registration & Elections office

Ballot Transporters: Receive a stipend. These clerks will travel throughout the County starting 28 days before Election Day in teams of two, pick-up voted Vote by Mail ballots, and deliver the ballots back to the main elections office. Mileage will be reimbursed at the current rate established by the County of El Dorado. 

  • Pick-up Vote by Mail Ballots at various locations throughout El Dorado County

  • Enforce and follow state and federal laws by performing tasks as instructed and follow proper security procedures 

  • Valid California Driver’s License and use of personal vehicle with proof of insurance

  • Attend mandatory training classes at the El Dorado County Voter Registration & Elections office
