All West Slope El Dorado County residents

may bring their Christmas trees to Waste Connections (MRF) which is located at 4100 Throwita Way, Placerville. There is no charge to drop off trees, but there is a limit of two trees per vehicle. Trees will be accepted from January 1st through January 15th during normal business hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. All Residents of El Dorado County who have El Dorado Disposal service may place trees at the curb. The trees will be picked up on regular collection days. Please cut the tree into small pieces (less than 3' long) and bundle the sections with string or twine. Before recycling your tree, please make sure it is totally bare. Remove all decorations, ornaments, lights, tinsel, and garland, as well as the stand.

All South Lake Tahoe residents

can drop Christmas trees off for recycling at the new Resource Recovery Facility, located at 2140 Ruth Avenue, at no charge. Call (530) 541-5105 or click here for more information.

South Tahoe Refuse and Recycling - Curbside Christmas tree recycling.  South Tahoe Refuse and Recycling is once again offering free curbside Christmas tree recycling to all our residential customers. Your Christmas trees will be recycled into compost in the Carson Valley. 

Place your tree next to your trash can on your regular pickup day: 

  • December 26 through January 6
  • Cut trees into 6’ lengths
  • Remove tinsel, lights, nails, and stands from your tree
  • Flocked trees are not accepted as they cannot be recycled into compost.

Commercial customers can drop trees off at the Resource Recovery Facility for the two weeks following Christmas at no charge. Contact us for further information at 530-541-5105.  

El Dorado Hills Residents Only:

El Dorado Hills residents may take part in a free tree recycling event at the Community Park. Please check the CSD calendar or call (916) 933-6624 for the date set for January.  The El Dorado Hills Community Services District and El Dorado Disposal sponsor this event. It is free but is open to El Dorado Hills residents only. 

Cameron Park:

Cameron Park Community Services District residents may drop off Christmas trees between December 26th and January 31st at Cameron Park Lake, 2989 Cambridge Road, in the lower gravel parking lot (look for the signs). The park is open every day from 7 a.m. to dusk. Trees may be dropped off free of charge. These trees will be chipped and used in Rasmussen Park.

City of Placerville and Unincorporated Areas of El Dorado County with Waste Connections Service:
Christmas trees will be picked up at your curbside on your regular yard waste collection day. Make sure you cut and bundled your tree into small pieces (less than 3' long). Call Waste Connections if you have any questions (530) 626-4141. 

South County - Residents with Amador Disposal Service:

Trees are collected at curbside for no additional charge. Not date specific. Call Amador Disposal at (209) 274-2454 if you have any questions.

Northwest County - Residents with Sierra Disposal Service:

Trees are collected at curbside for no additional charge. Not date specific. Call Sierra Disposal at (530) 621-4746 or (800) 464-4601 if you have any questions.
