Administration

The Chief Probation Officer, Deputy Chief Probation Officer(s), Assistant Deputy Chief Probation Officer(s) and Chief Fiscal Officer administer countywide operations and services. These services include:

  • Juvenile and adult court and supervision services
  • Juvenile detention and treatment services
  • Mental and behavioral health services
  • Victim services
  • Collections, financial services
  • Special programs

The Probation Department has 124 permanent positions assigned to offices across the county. The Probation Department also partners in special projects with many government, education, law enforcement, and community agencies within El Dorado County and throughout the State of California.

Fiscal Support Services

The Fiscal Unit performs a variety of activities to include:

  • Budget preparation and monitoring
  • Fiscal report preparation to include local, federal and state
  • Grant monitoring
  • Revenue recovery services including distribution of victim restitution
  • Accounts payable/accounts receivable
  • Department payroll processing
  • Procurement of all Department supplies, minor equipment, and fixed assets
  • Inventory management
  • Personnel services for both sworn and non-sworn team members
  • Board of Supervisors agenda item preparation
  • Contract/MOU development and maintenance
  • Support to the Executive Leadership Team

Operations Support Division

The Operations Support Division (OSD) is comprised of the Information Support Unit, Mental Health and Behavioral Health Services, and the Information Technologies Unit.

  • Standards and Training for Corrections (STC) coordination
  • Department wide training coordination
  • Innovation 

Information Support Unit (ISU)

The ISU provides services to include:

  • Public support services
  • Document processing for Probation activities
  • Case file maintenance
  • Electronic case management data entry
  • Record retention
  • Support to management and sworn staff as required
  • Grant writing
  • Data Analysis

Mental Health and Behavioral Health Services Unit

Mental health and behavioral health treatment is provided by El Dorado County Probation Mental Health Clinicians and Health Educator.  Services include:

  • Individual mental health counseling
  • Treatment planning
  • Substance use and addiction counseling
  • Trauma informed and culturally responsive interventions
  • Crisis and de-escalation response
  • Reunification and family therapy

Information Technology (IT) Support Unit

The IT Unit has a responsibility to manage the information technology needs for the entire Department including:

  • Develop and maintain department Intranet/Internet portals
  • Probation building(s) access control system maintenance and team member access
  • Probation building(s) security camera system maintenance 
  • Maintenance of the Department’s case management system and other software applications
  • Software licensing and Updates
  • Develop reports to extract data and statistics from the case management system
  • Technology advancements to improve effectiveness
  • Maintain and track all computer inventory
  • Act as Department liaison with the El Dorado County Central Information Technologies Department
  • Department liaison for technology vendors
