Title 130 Zoning Ordinance Updates

On July 13, 2021, the Board of Supervisors (Board) directed staff to initiate additional amendments to the Zoning Ordinance (Title 130 of the County's Code of Ordinances) including Chapter 130.36 (Signs) and Chapter 130.39 (Oak Resources Conservation) in Article 3 and Section 130.40.130 (Communications Facilities) in Article 4. As part of this effort, the Board also directed staff to facilitate the development and adoption of community-based objective sign standards for the community of Cameron Park.

On December 7, 2021, the Board of Supervisors approved a contract with the Dudek consulting firm (County Agreement for Services No. 5857(PDF, 2MB)) to assist staff with processing of the above ordinance amendments and Cameron Park sign standards, including the required environmental review for each of these components as required under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).

On February 22, 2024, the Planning and Building Department, Long Range Planning Unit, held a Planning Commission informational workshop to solicit public and Commission feedback on focused amendments to the Zoning Ordinance, including specific amendments to Chapter 130.36 (Signs); Chapter 130.39 (Oak Resources Conservation) and Section 130.40.130 (Communications Facilities). This workshop also solicited public and Commission feedback on the draft Cameron Park Sign Standards. Documents from this workshop are posted under the "Public Workshops" tab below.

There will be many opportunities for public involvement as this project moves forward, including public workshops and hearings with both the Planning Commission and Board. Project Updates

There is an upcoming public workshop with the Board of Supervisors on September 24, 2024 to review feedback from the February 22 Planning Commission workshop and solicit additional feedback for the proposed amendments for Communications Facilities (Title 130.40.130).  Click here for workshop details.  Documents for the upcoming workshop will be posted below under the "Public Workshops" tab as soon as they are available.

Planning Commission Public Workshop 2/22/24

On February 22, 2024, the Planning Commission and Long Range Planning Unit held a public workshop in the Building C Hearing Room, 2850 Fairlane Court, Placerville, CA 95667, to solicit public and Commission comments on proposed amendments to the Zoning Ordinance, including focused amendments to Chapter 130.36 (Signs), Chapter 130.39 (Oak Resources Conservation) and Section 130.40.130 (Communications Facilities). This workshop also received public and Commission feedback on the Draft Cameron Park Sign Standards as previously authorized by the Board on April 13, 2021.  Documents and materials from the Planning Commission workshop are included below.
