U.S. 50/Ponderosa Rd./So. Shingle Rd. Interchange Improvement
Welcome to El Dorado County U.S. 50/Ponderosa Rd./So. Shingle Rd. Interchange Improvements Project Website
The El Dorado County Department of Transportation and California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) are in the planning process to modify the existing U.S. Highway 50/Ponderosa Road/South Shingle Springs Road Interchange and realign frontage roads at Durock Road, North Shingle Road and Wild Chaparral Drive. The County cannot adequately address all issues without input from those who are directly affected on a daily basis. Therefore, the public is encouraged to remain engaged throughout the process.

What's New
Update July 1, 2021: The Board approved the CEQA document and the layout of the proposed project, Alternative 1, for the Ponderosa Interchange Project in March of 2020. The project is planned to be broken into three phases, with the first two phases involving the realignments of Durock Road and North Shingle Road. The final phase involves the widening of the bridge over U.S. 50.
The project is currently in the process of completing the final stages of environmental clearance (NEPA) and refining the project design. These refinements and advancements of the project design are primarily focused on the first two phases, the realignments of Durock Road and North Shingle Road, and this process will better define Right of Way and utility impacts.
