(PLACERVILLE, CA) – The El Dorado County Department of Transportation, in conjunction with the Federal Highway Administration - Central Federal Lands Highway Division and Martin Brothers (Martin Brothers) Construction, is performing road work on Ice House Road between the intersection of Peavine Ridge Road to the junction of Wentworth Springs Road in the El Dorado National Forest that will continue through November 2024.

Martin Brothers began reconstruction of Ice House Road from Wentworth Springs Road and heading south downhill towards Peavine Ridge Road in June 2024. This road reconstruction consists of the removal of existing asphalt, repairing road base, and repaving. During these activities, a one-way closure has been set up with one-way traffic control. Please drive with caution and slow down to avoid sudden braking when approaching construction signs and be prepared to stop until orders are given by traffic control personnel.

In early-July, Martin Brothers’ paving activities began. During the construction of Ice House Road, motorists should be aware and expect to travel on a compacted aggregate road for approximately four miles. Please reduce your speeds to 10 – 25 MPH when driving on this surface and keep up with the pilot car and traffic convoys through the construction zone.

The expected time of completion for paving is the end of September. Replacement of metal beam guardrails and bridge rails will be under construction through the late summer and fall.

The following are non-working days for Martin Brothers:

  • July 25th – July 29th: Jeeper’s Jamboree Event
  • August 1st – August 5th: Jeep Jamboree
  • September 2nd: Labor Day

No road closures will take place during the entire duration of this project, but motorists should expect up to 30 to 40-minute delays when approaching construction zones.

The County sincerely appreciates the cooperation and patience of motorists that use these roadway facilities.

For questions regarding this construction, please contact Martin Brothers’ Project Engineer Jonathan Tafoya at (916) 753-2628.
