(PLACERVILLE, CA) –

El Dorado County will officially open its first dog park Sunday, July 14th at the Historical Railroad Park in El Dorado at 9:00am

“We are thrilled to celebrate the long-envisioned opening of this beautiful facility for our dog-loving residents and their pets,” said Supervisor Wendy Thomas, whose district includes the new park.

The park, which includes a children’s playground, access to El Dorado Trail, and El Dorado Western Railroad Foundation, operates an excursion railroad program on Sundays at El Dorado Station. The dog park provides separate areas for small dogs under 30lbs and large dogs over 30lbs, a shaded bench area, a doggie waste bag station, and will soon have a water fountain with dog bowl.

The Grand Opening event will feature a ribbon cutting and remarks by officials and community members, county informational booths, pet adoption event (depending on Animal Services staffing availability), community group booths such as Friends of El Dorado Trail, and more. The Western Railroad excursion train will also be operating.

Project funded by Prop 68 State of California Drought, Water, Parks, Climate, Coastal Protection, and Outdoor Access for All Act of 2018.
